...correctly, by the way. They will tolerate it if they think they're going to get 10-100x returns. But seeing it go from 3500 to 14k down to 7000 with numerous violent yo-yos in between doesn't make them feel good about the investment at all, even if its up 100% in 8 months. They don't want anything to do with it.

It would have been better to just hang around the 4s, maybe low 5s this entire year, but unfortunately Bitfinex had a LOT of money to launder so here we are...

So folks who "correctly" avoided volatility missed out on 700% gains since btc was $1,000. How correct of them

No, they didn't know about crypto at 1k. Most retail interest arose in 2017 chasing 10x gains, and most retail interest was in alts. Most retail investors have lost money. Retail has correctly avoided alt drops of 90%+ the past year.

My point was that the incredible volatility only ensures that retail most likely will never again be interested in putting money on the wheel, and so there almost certainly won't be another retail hype pump. Crypto is now like bowling, cattle futures and internet poker... former fads that the world has passed by.

You would have to be a 100% drooling imbecile to have ever had any investment interest in "alts"
