I have a 2300dn from like 1998 that still works perfectly. You can buy a usb wireless adapter for it if that's your thing, or just run an ethernet cable to your router. You can print a status page that will tell you how many pages it's printed over its lifetime. Easy to find ones with less than 10,000 pages on them for $50-100 on Craigslist or whatever. Use that for shit like envelopes where paper handling is key and you don't need the thing to be lightning fast.
Use the brother for everything else because it will be much faster than an old laserjet. |

I always use toner refills after the initial set is exhausted. The main problem with them is that the quality can be spotty, so I always have a backup ready and not have to wait for an exchange. |
