Starting off with the process. This a purely political endeavor but here that notion is being used as an excuse to flout basic legal protections like due process etc. That’s fine, democrats control one half of one third of or government and this is how they’ve chosen to wield that power. Nonetheless, its fundamentally obvious to even a casual observer that if the case was rock solid (like it needed to be) you’d afford every protection to avoid appearing unfair/partisian. Instead democrats maximized every single opportunity they had, which again is their prerogative, held secret meetings, obscured the parties involved etc. However, this essentially bars any potential republicans from supporting it even if they were sympathetic to removing Trump. Also, this is a manipulation of the very notion of how we traditionally handle whistleblower cases.
Next the content they chose is just bizarre. Their front runner has fewer more blatant weaknesses than his shithead son. Hunter Biden is the last guy you want getting any play in the media. Aside from the underlying case, he’s off banging his dead bros wife, having illegitimate kids and doing lots of blow. Who in the right mind after hearing all of that thinks this guy was getting paid for anything other than political favor? This underhandedness is juxtaposed against Trump’s apparent crime which never even happened! All they have is something Trump was trying to do but ultimately none of it came to fruition. Being as generous as possible to libs with the facts, there might be some sort of crime committed there but it pales in comparison to the ongoing dealings of Biden’s kid.
So democrats had their secret hearings and brought forward their witnesses. Nobody cared. The most damning one ended up getting accused of sexual assault. The law profs came off as smug and lol one even offended the first lady by bringing up her 11 year old son and immediately had to apologize. None had any actual first hand knowledge. The actual whistleblower we have to pretend is still anonymous. Shiff acting like this is the case makes him look like a liar.
What did all of this get dems? …they actually had public support for impeachment drop! Now they’re looking at the prospect of having their vulnerable freshman reps from purple districts Trump won appearing on the same ballot with him in 2020. The GOP will beat them over the head with attack ads over this. How many seats will they drop?
I assume they have their house vote and they send this to the senate where it is immediately DOA. Not only that, but now the ball is in the GOP court for the full trial where they control the proceedings. Nothing good can come of that for libs. Mitch is already planning on 6 day a week sessions all through January! By the way, half the democratic field for potus comes from the senate and will be locked away for a month leading up to the Iowa primary. That’s insane. This to say nothing of who knows what could be uncovered digging in to Biden and Hunter (that can’t be good).
Finally, and possibly worst of all, this was their one shot. You only get one bite at the impeachment apple. If Trump wins a second term this weapon is out of their arsenal. Best bet for Pelosi would be to hold the vote but let her vulnerable reps peal off and vote against (they’ll look independent) and abort before it hits the senate.
I’m sure I’m missing lots but wow does Trump ever stumble into good luck. Its really amazing.

Wrong on the last point. If dems take the Senate they can hold another trial in 2021, because double jeopardy doesn't aoply to impeachment:

Several moderate Democratic House representatives are balking at impeaching President Trump as they worry doing so will have severe political consequences.
One anonymous member said he is "struggling" to see the case for impeachment and expressed concern that all of the information being used to draft articles of impeachment is "secondhand," according to CNN.
The anonymous admissions from Democratic lawmakers comes nearly two weeks after Democratic Rep. Brenda Lawrence of Michigan told a local radio host she favors censure over impeachment. Lawrence walked back that statement after it hit national news, and she pledged to support impeachment.
"I would say, 'Look, I am concerned about not knowing what the articles will have in them. I am concerned about the timeline of this whole impeachment process,'" one Democratic lawmaker said. "For me, right now, I am struggling to see how the evidence supports impeachment at this point."
Another moderate Democrat expressed frustration that leadership did not seem to take seriously the political consequences of impeachment for Democrats holding competitive seats.
"The fact of the matter is, this does have political consequences, and the people who will suffer significant political consequences are our moderate members. In fact, there are on-year amounts of money being spent in districts all across our moderates," the member said. "For our leadership not to engage with moderates at all to either talk about how they are going to message or what they are going to put in it seems to be a giant oversight."
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ordered House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff to begin drafting articles of impeachment on Thursday. The articles are expected to contain allegations that Trump withheld military aid from Ukraine to secure investigations into former Vice President Joe Biden's conduct and gain an advantage in the 2020 presidential election.
