“It's funny, when I was married for 13 years, we were dual income, no kids. My ex made about 2x what I did, and she ran all of the finances. We were basically living paycheck to paycheck. When she left and I got to manage my money on my own, I was initially a little nervous about making ends meet even though I bring home a decent salary. Well, now that 2 years have passed, I have more in savings than I ever did when I was married, zero debt, and I've traveled more and experienced more in the last 2 years than I did in the previous 19 I spent with her. I honestly don't know where she was spending our money, but I'm never giving up that control again. My girlfriend and I comfortably split our expenses without drama.”
