she clearly comes from a STEM type of family, always coming in with messy hair and blemished skin and old sweaters. she doesn't do a thing to looksmax, but paradoxically looks so much BETTER for it because of the nature of youth.

the other day during a review session, i asked who had the solution of a particularly hard problem. she did, and then i pivoted by asking her to explain her solution. she stumbled and started stuttering nervously. she began actually nervous-laughing, like i might have as a teenager asking a girl on a date, and i decided to move on to save her the embarassment. but it was one of those things, man, that sticks in my mind and provides a fuel for living/wonder/appreciation and form of torment/agony/despair, both.
