interesting idea - 900 justices on the Court and any given case is decided by 9 of them selected at random. No en banc review. Writ grant requires 451 votes in favor of taking the case.
This would strongly discourage attempts to make major political changes through the Court, because it's so unpredictable. It would encourage the Court to decide normal questions of law. And you can easily find 900 lawyers who are smart enough to sit on SCOTUS as a part time gig.
