for me, it's a two-fold equation. the first part is now that I have kids, I care much more about supporting a healthy and stable society for them, and i hate that all these childless freaks view society as some sort of fucked up social experiment in which to play out all their deranged fantasies.
the second part actually comes from a place of empathy. i know how much my life has been enriched by having my two kids (whom I never thought I'd ever want), how much it has matured me, and how much it has brought the miracle of life (and God) back into my heart. i just feel bad that there are a lot of dudes and dudettes who will be missing out on that because we live in a time where society finds it blase to build a real family. guys and gals who in another time wouldn't think twice about jumping in and doing what we've been biologically programmed to do for millennia.
having said all that, I would never encourage everyone to have kids. some people are just not cut out for it, and they are making the correct decision taking themselves out of the gene pool. but i do encourage all of my guy friends who ask to at least consider it and lay out all of the reasons that I've so loved fatherhood (to this point). |

i don't actively "criticize" childless people. was mostly just responding directly to your assertion that resentment is the driving force behind any eye-rolling I may do behind closed doors about the childless people in my life. i have many friends who have chosen not to have kids for various reasons, some of which seem virtuous at first blush. a few are happy, but the majority, while achieving career success and independence, are rather lonely and somewhat lost and confused when it comes to finding meaning in their lives.
and i wholeheartedly admit that having kids is somewhat of a selfish act in that I'm gaining at least as much from it as what I put into it. |

Are you seriously trying to say that I should be equally invested in the success of humanity generally and the success of my children? That's not something people at large are capable of. Children create an investiture in the future that does not otherwise exist, and people that don't want kids inherently are invested in a different type of world, with different priorities.
Their idea of "good" or "prosperity" is intrinsically colored by not having to consider the future of their children.
I don't think it's hard to understand that children create a personal investment in the future world that someone otherwise doesn't have. However, if you can't also see why someone would want to create a multigenerational family, and why that's an intrinsic good, I don't think I'm going to be able to explain it to you in a way you'll understand. |

No, but your criticism of nokidmos is along the lines of "they lack investment in anything but themselves and so should be dismissed from political decision-making," but if your own investment is just in your children rather than the future of society generally, then that's not really any less selfish.
You can't just pretend that investment in your family's future is the exact same thing as investment in "society." Imagine some lib kike boomer with kids: he's going to agitate for more mass immigration to import Democrat votes, provide his kids with cheap labor, increase his kids' power to work as lib grifters who capitalize on racial strife, etc.
You obviously wouldn't agree with his vision for the future. Or if you look at some methed-out welfare queen with five kids, I doubt you'd want her involved in the political process either. Elsewhere you referred to "those two different futures," but there are a lot more than two different visions of the future and you can't just divide it into the kidmo vision and the nokidmo vision. If you list all the issues that are the most important to you (immigration? crime? opposing affirmative action/diversity nonsense? gun rights? free speech?) you aren't going to have nokidmos all lined up against you on all the issues. |

tl;dr it's because "it takes a village" doesn't exist anymore. so many kidmos see raising a family as the most important and defining part of their identity. instead of science as religion it is children as religion, although it's a far more understandable position to have given the former are usually 110 iq midwits who don't really give a fuck about science anyway. |

Average people have kids or don't have kids for basically arbitrary reasons mostly to do with herding and instincts. We can ignore this crowd, it's like asking why some feral cats make a lot of kittens.
High-IQ autists with successful careers and iffy social/emotional skills (i.e. core XO demographic) hit age 28-30 and think "ok, I'm good at the thing I do, sometimes have fun, and am no longer poor. but it's all gay and retarded. what now?" We are caught between two thoughts:
1. my parents, who are mentally ill, ugly, weird boomers, found each other and made me. I can do better than that. I will find a wife with a complementary set of abilities and disabilities and form little people we love and stay together as a family. Then we can do fun stuff with our kids and guide the development of exciting new people instead of living a life of email and empty consumption in a spotless apartment until we die.
2. kids will fuck up my routine - house will be a perpetual mess, wife and I will be frazzled, I will never be the very best specialist XYZ counsel because I will sometimes not read the new regs immediately or answer emails within an hour, and I'll never have the free time to master League of Legends or do that big hiking trip or whatever the fuck gay shit I like. Instead I'll have to things I don't want to do like hold crying baby and clean up poop. And I fear change!
Most higher-functioning people with no real world impediment to kid-having can find a good partner and reason their way to choosing #1 even though it is costly and challenging. So when you look at a peer choosing #2 you think "wow that guy must be a real bitchmade faggot who is worried that his imaginary son would knock over his very real ship-in-a-bottle collection and so he's opted to die alone in a nursing home while a Jamaican nurse shouts at him."
Whatever other shit you like to do, you can do it (a) before you have kids, (b) while someone watches your kids (hint: almost any non-sex-offender can competently watch your kids above age 2 for a few hours if you provide food, a box of building supplies and a working TV), (c) with your kids if they get into it which they probably will since they are your kids, (d) after your kids develop their own interests and leave your house which they will if they are remotely normal. You're alive for a damn long time and nobody says "man if I just had another 15-20 years of pointless striving and focusing alone on my hobbies, I think I really could have gotten somewhere!"
