I try to hit WDW twice a year at least.
My favourite park era was the 90s Eisener era, he really had a vision for the parks and invested heavily in new, innovative rides, resorts etc. The upkeep at the parks was at an extremely high level and you still had characters in costume walking around the parks.
Disney hasn't had a real animated children's hit in a decade and while I know they had longer slumps I don't think the current leadership is up to the task.

The 4-8 year old types will love it. The kids club downstairs for this age group is really cool and will keep them busy, the evening musical performances are high quality (Aladdin, Little Mermaid, etc.) and the food is pretty darn good.
We sailed out of Port Canaveral on the Wish, the newest ship (think it first sailed in May of this year), so we got to spend a day at their private island, Castaway Cay, and that was everyone's highlight of the trip.
The ship was new and clean, but the layout itself sort of sucked. Everything felt narrow and tight and there weren't a lot deck areas that really looked out over the ocean other than the pool decks. The pools were these little circular jacuzzi tubs where you felt really cramped - no larger pools at all. All of the nightclubs and lounges felt tucked away and uninviting. The older kids clubs were just single rooms with couches and a few video games. And the main atrium area felt undercooked. I expected to be wowed by the ship, but came away underwhelmed.
