Whqt are you do it ng back extensions for?
What you're probably thinking of is supposed to primarily train your glutes and hamstrings.
Unless you're a competitive athlete, you're probably better off maintaining a neutral spine.

How could you possibly have such little mobility in your hips?
You probably need to lower the height on the machine.
This excercise should have a vomparable movent pattern to a Romanian deadlift.
