judaism isnt about ticking boxes. for daily prayer, structure and habit is part of it. there's also the element that, god is our father and knows what's best for us and he knows it's good for us to pray because that's how we connect with him, in the same way we know its best for our kids to do their homework and chores. there's many other ways it's more than ticking boxes, but that's just an example.

What you’re saying here is cr, but I have never heard any rabbis talk about it in these terms. Most of them talk about doing mitzvahs, and/or following various rules. A lot of rabbis don’t even talk about God at all, just various obligations, “what we are put here to do” etc in very abstract terms. And none of one’s I’ve listened to (I listened to probably a few dozen hours total of various rabbi talks) ever talked about prayer, certainly not in the terms of it being a way to connect to our Father.
