Bah, hopefully someone ups them.
Thankfully, Milbank isn't exactly known as a compensation leader, so there's a chance that could happen.

OUCH!
Man, what's it like to make only like 15k more than people working in secondary markets like cleveland and milwaukee where people work like 1 saturday a month?

yea--although new york has always been behind these markets in real compensation it looks like the gap in nominal compensation is narrowly significantly as well.
the recent round of pay raises brought lots of firms in secondary markets up to 125K from 100-115k and to 135K in others.

Here's the increase in total comp from last year (assuming a $20k increase for all classes, not sure if this is true):
1st year: Same
2nd - 5th: $5k
6th and higher: $10k

"When someone earns $700,000 in revenue for the firm"
not at all. you merely transform the work that the partners bring in into money. and the market has decided that bringing the work in counts for a lot more than trudging through it.

blah blah blah the market blah blah. we are perfectly aware of the market conditions that dictate associate salaries--that doesn't make them fair.
nor does it mean that people shouldnt be disappointed and complain. This was a great year for many firms, so there's no reason associates shouldn't complain about partners not sticking to their "revenue sharing" propaganda.

If this is real, I wonder if other firms will follow.
If not, I wonder if Milbank will be forced to provide a second bonus in order to keep up.

Well they claim to be Milbank associates, so I figured there'd be no harm in saying that the IPs are from Milbank. Wouldn't have done that otherwise.
Speaking of IPs, it seems like virtually every firm in the Vault Top 50 is represented in the IP logs for this thread right now.

It won't have the same sort of fallout. Someone has to announce bonuses first.
I'm guessing a few other firms will copy Milbank and then someone will up them.

If it was fake though, it's the best fake attempt ever. Posts were made by distinct Milbank IPs.

What made you think to do this? How did you remember the February thread?
I'm impressed. Only way I found the old thread was by doing a google search for [name of the recruiter] milbank and the February thread popped up. I was trying to see if this person was actually the recruiter.
I only wish you had waited a bit longer to post the truth so there would be more outrage.

No way. When it got posted, I actually called a friend who's at a top NY firm and was basically like "omg Milbank announced check the board." Then I had to call back a few hours later and retract it.
I think he was just annoyed at my wasting cell phone minutes or something.
