That doesn't mean the Ivy students are necessarily more successful. For instance, if you go to UCSB or UCSD and you're lying on the beach getting a tan in February, you are at that moment a heck of a lot more successful than the Ivy students trudging through the snow. If you go to Berkeley and study CS, you have a better chance at landing a job in Silicon Valley than somebody from Harvard with a degree in Philosophy. On the other hand, if you want to become an I-Banker in NYC, you're much better off going to any Ivy than going to any UC.
