That doesn't mean the Ivy students are necessarily more successful. For instance, if you go to UCSB or UCSD and you're lying on the beach getting a tan in February, you are at that moment a heck of a lot more successful than the Ivy students trudging through the snow. If you go to Berkeley and study CS, you have a better chance at landing a job in Silicon Valley than somebody from Harvard with a degree in Philosophy. On the other hand, if you want to become an I-Banker in NYC, you're much better off going to any Ivy than going to any UC. The only list that is worth examining is the average of all scores (including the nonranked, or shitty, departments). When you do this, UCSB is much higher than UCI.
