fintech wakes up to the fact that there is enormous amounts of cash to be made applying all the insanely smart people they have to what amounts to childs play compared to engineering picosecond-level trading algorithms
realistically it will just be a slow, prolonged decline like the 2013 cycle until the next crop of coins pops up. the few token-based ICOs that make legitimate use of a blockchain instead of just using fagToken in place of paypal/credit cards so they could raise money with a fraudICO$cam will stay around. I think people vastly overestimate the "prole effect" resulting in another 10x--many of the people who have money to play around with and are (theoretically) OK with it going poof are already in it. Middle America won't care about this shit like Korea or China or countries where LOL is a national sport does.

Barring some catastrophic black swan event, which is hard to imagine given the decentralized nature of all this, I agree with others that have said there will likely be a long slow decline. Some of these fraud coins have been pumped with hundreds of millions, and even billions of capital. They have 5-10 team members with no significant overhead. It will take years for them to burn through all this cash. They can keep coming out with meaningless "updates" for a long time. Eventually though, people will see that there will never be a working product, and even if there is, that it is entirely useless in the marketplace. So people will stop contributing to the real shitcoins and take their cash out. But I think this would take a long time.
The interesting question to me is how long will the new projects keep getting pumped with cash the way they did in 2017. I think in the near future, the pump will continue.
