The basic gist is that you eat potatoes for as much of your diet as you can stand. In exchange for only eating potatoes, you can lose weight without being hungry.

Starting Day 1 at 216.8 lbs and with 30 lbs of russet, sweet and red potatoes. First meal will consist of two russet potatoes and one sweet potato steamed in the pressure cooker.

Not that bad. I steamed a bunch of russet potatoes and stuck them in the fridge. I'd eat two of them as a meal for breakfast and lunch. In the evening I'd mix it up with some oven roasted potato wedges seasoned with salt, pepper, and cayenne.

I'd strongly recommend for dieters who don't like being hungry and don't want to count calories.

Adam Smith recognized the power of the potato:

Experience would seem to shew, that the food of the common people in Scotland is not so suitable to the human constitution as that of their neighbours of the same rank in England. But it seems to be otherwise with potatoes. The chairmen, porters, and coal-heavers in London, and those unfortunate women who live by prostitution, the strongest men and the most beautiful women perhaps in the British dominions, are said to be, the greater part of them, from the lowest rank of people in Ireland, who are generally fed with this root. No food can afford a more decisive proof of its nourishing quality, or of its being peculiarly suitable to the health of the human constitution.

180, I put on ten pounds during the LIB LOCKDOWNS and used the potato diet to melt it off in like 30 days. It's so cheap&easy that fatmos officially have no excuse, they are just choosing to be FAT. Which is fine, they can be as fat as they like, it's just insufferable when they pretend it's someone else's fault LJL

There's no such thing as a monodiet, if you literally ate only one food it will kill you. In the case of a potato you'd be missing out on B12 and some other things.

But potatoes are very very close, if you throw in like an egg a day and a multivitamin you could live that way for years. Note that this is a weight loss plan not a muscle building plan, you're not eating nearly enough protein to get strong. But you can worry about that once you're not fat.

This would be a pretty shitty diet for anyone who isn’t obese, given high potential for muscle loss. Carnivore diet would seem like a safer bet.

I'm not sure what caused the big drop from yesterday. Starting to be concerned that my scale is broken lol.

At this point, my cravings for non-potato foods are pretty-much gone. I had zero issues turning down free food at the office today. My sleep is substantially improved and my energy levels feel fine.

No, bro, I was running potato diet shtick for a time. I dropped it in favor of a higher protein diet, but it is good enough as a crash diet. (Still, protein-sparing modified fast is better for a kickstart, and best of all is using something like macrofactor + high protein with 8 hr feeding window.)

See https://autoadmit.com/thread.php?thread_id=4998936&mc=73&forum_id=2

I also did a review of that book A PROPITIOUS ESCULENT or w/e. And read The Potato Hack and related materials.

You can have as much salt, spices, or non-caloric condiments as you want. Cooking oil is permitted, but you can't use that as an excuse to guzzle olive oil.

My basic method (75% of potato intake) has been steaming them in the instant pot. It ends up being something in between a baked potato and a boiled potato in consistency. I eat several of these a day; usually just cold right out of the fridge.

To keep some tater variety, I make a butter/oil-free mashed potato. You can get a good result by using some of the potato boil water to add some moisture to the mash.

Another thing I do a lot of is potato wedges roasted in the oven with a bit of olive oil. These get seasoned with salt, pepper, and cayenne. I dip them in hot sauce and snack on them while watching sports.
