Jeffrey Epstein is a science philanthropist and financier. He is the founder of the Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation and the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Trust Company. Mr. Epstein started his career at Bear Stearns with an educational background in physics and mathematics.
The Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation was established in 2000 to support cutting edge science research around the world. Its areas of focus range from physics to neuroscience, artificial intelligence, evolutionary theory and medical research. In the field of medicine, Jeffrey Epstein Science has a large focus on genetic engineering in the fields of cancer, alzheimers and parkinsons disease. The Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation is based in New York City, New York and St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.
In 2003, the Foundation established the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard University. The Program is under the direction of Martin Nowak, Professor of Biology and Mathematics at Harvard. The Program uses mathematics to analyze evolution, most notably the evolution of micro life systems. Since its inception, the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics has provided ground breaking research in the evolution of genes, viruses and cancer cells. It has also offered novel insights into the origins of life from RNA monomer sequences. The Program is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
In addition to sponsoring science research, the Foundation holds regular conferences to bring together the best minds on significant scientific subjects. Recent conferences have covered such topics as gravity, global threats to the earth and the evolution of language.
