Never worked in this shit profession but

-he’s very clear on what he wants

-gives you concrete details on how to present it

-a bit smarmy on the “you should be an expert by now”.

Question: I would be very upfront with him on how much of an “expert” I am. I wouldn’t try and bullshit him with a ridiculous timeline. And I would try to add or give context to why “we didn’t cite cases they cited.”

Would I eventually be shown the door with this behavior?

The OP tone is overly parental and talking down which would get on my nerves. I would say something pretty quickly if partner sounded like a broken record.

Not going to just grit my teeth and bear it.

Doing what the OP described would involve reading a legal brief, pulling out every case that was cited (dozens or more, typically) then researching each case to find OTHER cases where a judge spoke negatively about the first case, reading and summarizing those cases, researching those cases to make sure THEY weren't criticized by other judges, and finally creating a chart showing the old cases, the critical cases, and summaries.

LJL at spending 9 hours hunched over a computer doing this while you and your e-commerce bros play foosball in the office and basically jerkoff for half the day.
