Kabbalistic Hierarchy of Being and Role
1. Ein Sof (אין סוף) – The Infinite
Above even “Yahweh” in conventional naming — the boundless, unmanifest, beyond human comprehension.
No form, no limitation; the source of all emanations.
Yahweh as revealed in the Torah is considered a particular Name or facet emanating from Ein Sof.
2. The Sefirot (עשר ספירות) – Divine Emanations
Ten emanations through which Divine will and energy flow into creation.
Arranged in the Tree of Life: Keter (Crown), Chochmah (Wisdom), Binah (Understanding), etc.
Each sefirah has symbolic, ethical, and cosmic functions.
Language itself is tied to specific sefirot — e.g., Malchut (Kingdom) as the realm of speech and manifestation.
3. Messiah (משיח) – Agent of Tikkun
In Kabbalah, Messiah isn’t only a political redeemer but the archetype that completes the cosmic repair (tikkun olam).
Seen as a force that gathers scattered sparks of holiness (nitzotzot) from the broken vessels of creation.
In Lurianic thought, there are multiple messianic figures (Messiah son of Joseph, Messiah son of David) with different roles.
4. The Tzadikim (צדיקים) – Righteous Souls
In Hasidic Kabbalah, the Tzadik is a living channel for Divine flow — a spiritual elite, not just a priestly or rabbinic scholar.
Can overlap with the role of Cohen or mystic master but is defined more by spiritual purity and role in tikkun.
5. The Priestly Line (Cohenim and Levites)
Retain ritual and liturgical roles.
In a messianic/Kabbalistic vision, they will resume Temple service — seen as a cosmic repair act reconnecting heaven and earth.
6. The Scholars & Kabbalists
Torah scholars, halakhic decisors, mystics — in Kabbalah, those who unite Nigleh (revealed law) and Nistar (hidden, mystical law) play a key role in repair.
Their study is not only legal but cosmological; learning itself is seen as an act that heals the world.
7. The Faithful of Israel
Regular Jews upholding Torah and mitzvot — every mitzvah is a small tikkun, releasing sparks from the husks (kelipot).
8. The Righteous of the Nations (Bnei Noah / Noahides)
Non-Jews who follow the Seven Laws of Noah are integrated into the tikkun process.
In some mystical views, they have their own sparks to elevate but remain outside Israel’s direct covenant.
9. The Kelipot (קליפות) – “Husks”
Forces of concealment and distortion.
Can be people, systems, or states of consciousness that cover or trap Divine sparks.
Not always inherently “evil” — some husks can be “permissible” and refined, others are “impure” and must be avoided or destroyed.
