The explanation:
Minnesotans know they live in the middle of flyover country and it bothers them. They're provincial but they know it. They have family and friends who moved to Chicago or even NYC, and they've seen enough movies to know these big cities exist, but they get scared when they visit one. They can't wait to get home and sit on the back deck and watch the ducks.
Minneapolis tried to compensate for this by begging minorities to move there and spice things up. They weren't particular. Any black skin would do. Then Somalia generated all these refugees in the 90s and boom: a Pareto efficient transaction was unlocked. |
