You can choose one of the following:
$3M in cash, tax free today
You instantly become the 300th best in the world at any sport of your choosing--and you'll be 300th best for the next 5 years.
You instantly become the 3000th best in the world at any sport of your choosing--and you'll be 3000th best for the next 20 years.
For the sports choices, you're still you in terms of size, appearance, background, etc. You'll just be much stronger, faster, more coordinated, etc.
You can pick the sport and position, though you can't be a basketball center/forward if you're less than 6'6"/6'3" IRL as that would be entirely unreasonable.
While in general you would remain 300th or 3000th best for the 5 or 20 years, you have the same proclivity to injury as an average pro rookie. So if you take enough hits, you may get injured and might not be 300th/3000th best until you recover.
You also need to work out and practice as much as the average pro to maintain, or you'll start slipping.
Which do you pick? And if one of the sports ones, which sport do you choose?

300th best
You'd probably make the most in the NBA. Def more than 3 million. I'd do soccer though there are so many leagues everywhere, the 300th best player is probably at a decent big club in europe making a good wage

You'd just need to find an agent to get you a trial, many of them are ex players you could show them how good you are and they'd find you opportunities
This guy was repairing car windshields and ended up playing in the premier league https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jermaine_Beckford
Jamie Vardy had a similar path and he is still playing in Serie A now at 38

If I were 27 instead of 37 I'd take the skillz because I'd have a decent shot at staying that good (or even improving) for a while
Now just give me the cash

What happens at the end of the 5 (or 15) years? Do I revert back immediately to my current skill level or do I tail off gradually after that?
What sport would be most likely to get me a ridiculous long term contract within the first five years? Then I could suck balls for the next 5 years and still get paid millions.

Could I dominate the Senior Tour as the 300th best golfer in the world? Seems like an easier bet than getting to a major pro league in my 40s.
Edit: have to be 50. Seems like easily the best choice if you're over 50.
I'd probably just take the cash then.

How does this work with football and all the different positions?
Seems like soccer is the best way to monetize this given how many international teams there are, but I’m leaning toward the $3M.

If all teams were re-drafting all players--arranged with the top-level pro teams going first, then bigger time minor leagues and top D1 programs...--you would be as good as the 300th or 3000th person off the board.
Who goes off the board is weighted by position. E.g., 20 QBs probably go in the top 300 due to their value and the scarcity of NFL-level talent. Fewer kickers or linebackers would go in the top 300. So, you might be the 20th best QB or the 2nd best kicker or the 15th best linebacker.
Of course, you won't actually get drafted. That's just how good you'll be. You have to find your own way onto a team.

300th best for 5 years. Soccer. Very easy hypo.
Sure there are injury risks, but i'd be willing to take that risk for glory and the likelihood that i make substantially more than $3 million in my 5 years.

I'm taking the cash. The way I see it, no matter how good I am, I am going to have a very difficult time convincing a scout to overlook the fact that I am in my late 40's. Even if I am the 300th best soccer player in the world, scouts are going to assume that I'm some freak of nature that ages slowly, but they'll still think that a long-term contract is too risky because I'm about to hit the wall. Most likely I'll never make it to a big European professional league, and, even if I do, I'll have one or two years left at best. Plus if I ever get injured, I am definitely done here. It'd be smarter to just take the cash rather than hustle like crazy for a hypothetical bigger payout that most likely will never materialize. Now if I were in my early 20's, I would absolutely become a top 300 soccer player for 5 years.
If e-sports count as sports and I were a hot, young girl, I might try to become the 3000th ranked player in Fortnite or some other super popular online game. If you are in the top 3000 of a game played by millions, then you will be in the top 0.001% of players. If I started a Twitch stream where I dominated every game I entered while showing tons of cleavage, I'm sure I would be raking in millions in no time. And my gaming skills would last about as long as my looks. I don't think that top 3000 would be good enough to become a major streamer unless I had the cleavage to go along with it, though. And that's pretty much the only scenario I can think of where top 3000 is good enough to get you more than $3 million.
