NFL teams have a MASSIVE blind spot for surgical white QBs

Sam Darnold tossed out like trash after posting top 3 qb rating with the Vikings, a team that has desperately chased a franchise QB for the last decade
Same thing with Jared Goff.
NYG fucked up big time discarding Daniel Jones
But this goes back to the Trent Dilfer and Hasselbeck days. Probably before I was even born
Why are NFL teams utterly incapable of accurately evaluating the Quarterback position

I think that in many of these cases the team that drafted them was extremely shitty and were just really bad and they blamed their failings on the QB. When Daniel Jones was signed by the Giants everyone thought it was a terrible signing. Because Daniel Jones was not going to turn that trash heap around. But someone in the organization correctly identified him at one point. It's just they lost so many games they thought it was him.
With the Vikings I don't really know but that entire organization is run by the family members of the owner who have never had a real job even once.

Like who?
Mahomes, Jackson and Hurts seem like single threat QBs to me.
True Willy Beamen types never stay healthy or haven't been clutch in postseason
I think Detroit also fell ass backwards into a superior "dual threat" RB strategy that other teams should copy

Yeah you're right. This is probably what causes the blindspot
But Mahomes is generational and Jackson is close. Hurts is a lucky motherfucker
Seems super risky to try and draft the next one of those over building around a surgical game manager who runs the offense like a CEO being graded on time of possession and TD:INT ratio

"Top 3 QB Rating"
Darnold had 2 make or break games at the end of 2024 to prove he was for real.
Against the Lions he posted a 55 rating and a 14 QBR.
Against the Rams he posted a 77 rating and 12 QBR.
That's be literally the worst rating and QBR of the 50 QBs that played last year. Not an exaggeration to say if he played well in either of those games he'd have gotten $100 mm more on his contract.

evolution of the defensive line ended the precision pocket passer. 20-30 years ago, the game was run heavy, often with 2 set backs. the d lines' job, esp DT, was to fill gaps and stop the run, often run from variations of the power i. the old run game was very vertical. defenses were standard 4-3 or 3-4, little movement, mainly man to man. rushing the passer were designed all out blitzes usually. the qb just didnt have pressure back then like they do today.
when the league started bringing in faster more agile defensive linemen, and more complex schemes with movement and rotation of d linemen and zones, this was countered by the west coast offense. you started seeing split back sets to stretch the field horizontally, gone were the power i days. with faster d linemen, this is also when DE pass rushing became an important aspect of the game. this era was the beginning of the end of the pocket passer and the fullback.
today, defensive lines are too big and too fast. the o line cannot hold the pocket esp with linebackers who are essentially mini d linemen playing zone and can optionally shift in and out of d line. zone cover defenses + fast d line means you would need a precision passer who can make sub 3 second decisions AND have open receivers, which is the goal of modern day spread offense. that just cannot happen all the time. the pocket collapses too fast, coverage is too good. you need a qb with mobility or you get stuck like burrow - who i agree is great, but playing in the wrong era.
