Countries in Latin America have become a hotbed of fraud, their justice systems are essentially non-functional. Without First Amendment protections, people can't even call out fraudsters online. Offenders can simply bribe law enforcement and walk away. It's a never ending cycle.
Biz idea: A US based platform (protected by the First Amendment) where victims post their cases, the names of perpetrators, and supporting evidence.
There are already US based outlets like Latinus, Univision Noticias, and Fusion that run major investigative projects about corruption in Latin America. They do it from the US because the First Amendment shields them from defamation suits, government censorship, plus US hosting protects their content from being taken down by local authorities.
But there are hundreds of thousands of smaller cases that never reach the public eye. Public exposure would discourage scammers from repeating the scheme, and the outlet would become the place people check before parting with their money.
Is there any legal framework that could make this viable and profitable? Lol at Latam justice systems.
