The pair, both 72, were heard chatting about the possibility of achieving immortality with organ transplants and advanced medical procedures, alongside Kim Jong Un.
Xi told Putin via a translator: 'Earlier, people rarely lived to 70, but these days at 70 you are still a child'.
Putin responded: 'Human organs can be continuously transplanted. The longer you live, the younger you become, and (you can) even achieve immortality'.
Xi said in response: 'Predictions are, this century, there is also a chance of living to 150'.

china is completely controlled by boomers
their boomer problem is actually 10x worse than ours, which is saying a lot
it's going to hurt them badly in the coming years

no they don't
they're suffering the same boomer problems that we're suffering and it's gonna get way worse
there are no feedback mechanisms for the youngs to fight back there, either. america's elite are much more beholden to the population at large than china's are

yeah china has made enormous progress in the past ~50 years *in spite of* the CCP, not *because* of it
the CCP really, really sucks. it's corrupt, it's elderly, it's reactionary and cowardly and selfish in all the wrong ways. and there's no mechanism to "reform" it. it's just going to keep getting worse
modern china has succeeded because of free enterprise and the chinese people's natural knack for it. not because of top-down state policy and control. chinese people are reasonably clever, entrepreneurial, hard working, and materialistic. they're just naturally better at the modern economy than anyone else in the world, and the results have borne that out
