audience interaction is a part of live comedy. comedians that just get up and do their routine are stale. but too much reliance on crowdwork is lazy, and once you're good at jt you can go on autopilot just like a routine.
you need a good mix of both imo.

CR. It's lazy, often unfunny (audience member says they were in rehab or something; comedian gasps; that's it); and often mean and uncomfortable.
