there was a hardcore punk venue there called the stanton center (kinda like a YMCA hall), and there was a show there in 93 that fortunately i missed but some of my friends went to. the neighborhood people rolled up to it with guns and held the entire place hostage/robbed them. this was before anyone really had cellphones so nobody could do shit about it.

if you're familiar with the historic part of annapolis, this is maybe a mile away from that (if even that far). and it's still like that.

the first time i went to new haven CT (again, for a hardcore show), i was shocked at how ghetto it was - we heard gunshots outside our hotel all night. i pictured who's the boss. i guess people look at annapolis through that kinda lens.
