Rebecca Hill, told the jury "not to be fooled" by the
evidence presented by Mr. Murdaugh's attorneys, which I
understood to mean that Mr. Murdaugh would lie when he
testifies.
She also instructed the jury "to watch him closely"
immediately before he testified, including [to] "look at his
actions" and "look at his movements," which I understood
to mean he was guilty.

Date: May 18th, 2026 5:25 PM Author: Puce field When I was clerking, one of the jury-services people (not even the CRD who actually tourgides the jury around; like a lady who was attached to chambers but whose office was technically downstairs in the clerk's office) went into the jury room during deliberations (to like grab her MONSTER energy drink or whatever from the fridge in there) and didn't even say anything, and it was a huge to-do and she got an Office Space-style multilevel talking-to from the chief judge, my judge, the clerk of the court, and probably 4 other layers of supervision about it.
The level of went-out-of-her-wayness here is off the fucking charts. I actually could believe she got paid off by the murdaugh family. |

She denied wanting a guilty verdict because it would sell more books, claiming the outcome of the trial did not matter to her, but she acknowledged as true a passage in which she stated she believed Murdaugh was guilty but was concerned he would be acquitted because of his family's goodwill in the community.
2 As her book's title suggests, it turns out Hill was quite busy behind the doors of justice, thwarting the integrity of the justice system she was sworn to protect and uphold. The book was pulled from publication because Hill plagiarized portions of it. |
