on one hand, AI should eventually be able to do a great job at summarizing 2000-3000 page records and writing a somewhat workable summary of case and facts.
on the other hand, AI seems like it will be pretty shitty at identifying the subtle type of issues that an experienced appellate lawyer will pick out.
also, the government and court system is so fucking backward. in many counties, we still have paper transcripts and these court clerks are still writing hand written court minutes and shit like that.
you'd think the defense bar would fight tooth and nail to ensure that live humans are making sure criminal defendants get their constitutional rights met, and that would make the system willing to pay us to do this work.
