Shoulda listened to NSAM and snagged good Intel CPUs while they made em

AM5 is still whack and 12th Gen Intel from 2022 will run DDR5 and give you PCIe 5.0 right now. The i5-12600k sips juice and runs cool and quiet. Put it on $100 b760 motherboard, you don't even need z790

that metric is just a bunch of random user benchmarks with no control for GPU or whether the game is CPU limited or not. of course it's going to compress the performance because a lot of games will perform similarly on any modern CPU.
I got to compare the 9800x3d and 13700k directly on the same games, using the same high-end card (a 4090 when I did the build), and the 9800x3d simply smokes every intel chip. it was a much bigger upgrade than I expected. the game I was playing the most at the time was FF:Rebirth, and it was a bad experience on the intel chip (horrendous stuttering) but ran amazingly on the 9800x3d.
even on games that only have say...10% difference, it subjectively feels like more than that due to the added consistency. having a beast CPU/memory is often pulling up your minimum frames a lot.
