Good- the nomination process has shut down since Dems can't even greenlight a routine nomination without being accused of being in cahoots with Trump.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-03/senate-republicans-hatch-plan-to-speed-up-trump-s-stalled-nominees?utm_source=website&utm_medium=share&utm_campaign=twitter

Republicans are planning to upend Senate rules to confirm Donald Trump’s stalled nominees in one vote, speeding up the president’s ability to fill top regulatory, district court and other posts and essentially neutering Democratic dissent.

The move would greatly empower Trump to appoint people who will greenlight his agenda and mark the latest erosion of the power of the Senate minority, which has traditionally used the chamber’s long-standing procedures to serve as a check on the party in power.

It comes on the heels of Republican moves this summer to sign off on Trump’s actions to cancel spending previously approved by Congress, creating an end-run around the bipartisan spending process.

Senate Majority Leader John ThunePhotographer: Al Drago/Bloomberg

Frustrated by Democratic slow-walking tactics that have denied quick confirmation votes for 145 pending nominees already approved by committees, Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters Wednesday that Republicans would soon act.

“Expects us to move forward with a plan that would enable us to clear the backlog of nominees,” he said, blaming Democratic delays on “Trump derangement syndrome.”

No. 2 Republican John Barrasso later told reporters the GOP was united on changing the rules to accelerate nominations, and said consensus is forming around a plan to allow an unlimited number of nominations to be packaged together for a single roll call vote.

Barrasso said the rules change would not affect the highest level of nominations like cabinet picks, Supreme Court nominations or court of appeals nominees, but would allow Republicans to bundle nominees that now require up to two hours each of debate.

Barrasso said Republicans are still discussing the proposed rules change.

Senators in both parties have frequently held up presidential nominees as they seek leverage over unrelated political disputes, giving each senator a significant amount of power.

Both parties have previously changed Senate rules to end the requirement for 60 votes to end filibusters on nominees and shorten the amount of time required for debate.

This would take that one large step further, leaving the filibuster rule on most legislation as the major tool left to the minority.

It's necessary for both sides. Each party does the same obstructive shit and either praises or condemns it depending on whose ox is getting gored at a particular time.
