They started giving you a disclaimer when you buy your tickets that the movie won't start until at least 30 minutes after the scheduled start time.
Presumably some lawyer (at the FTC or otherwise) sued or threatened to sue at some point over failure to disclose this.

this is a yuge benefit of assigned seats. you can waltz in right before the feature starts.
