I’m sure it will crack dark matter, quantum gravity, and the origin of life, too, but the moment it explains what consciousness it, how it works, how to recreate it in a lab, how to test for it, etc, it’s going to a have a profound effect on society and many religiousmos will have mental breakdowns

You’ll still have some holdouts just like you still have flat earthmos and evolution deniers, but once the evidence becomes too convincing for most people to deny, we’ll see lots of cons jumping out of windows and throwing themselves into traffic

i don't think "consciousness" is all that important. i used to think it was, but after getting smarter and more knowledgeable i don't think that anymore. in my experience other smart and knowledgeable people don't either

we still find it interesting because we're curious and because it's natural to want to know exactly what one is, but i don't think that understanding the full mechanics of consciousness will be a consequential development for humans. nothing will change after we figure it out. understanding its mechanics won't help us make artificial intelligence any more capable, either

no one will care. the question is will it lead to a technological breakthrough that will take us out into space? nothing you've described is really going to accomplish that.
