It’s frankly disrespectful that he can’t keep straight who he’s told. He’s always done this or I’d be concerned.
Mom has started mumbling and will agree with you even when it’s clear that she didn’t hear you. Yes/no question that she didn’t hear? She’ll just agree with you. Her mother did this exact same thing, except when she was 85, not 70. I write it off to her being tired or her hearing slipping a bit. |

Date: May 31st, 2022 4:10 PM Author: Slap-happy sanctuary My mom drinks too much. Rarely gets drunk, but has 2-3 glasses each and every night and it’s affecting her weight. Health is ok now, but who knows 10-15 years from now.
My dad is awesome. Had a temper and hit me a bit too much when I was younger but I mostly deserved it and he worked hard to give me a good childhood. Was a different era and his dad beat in him at least 10X worse before he died of alcoholism when my dad was 11. We get along great now and I’m sad to see him just starting to hit the end of middle age.

Took me to the zoo, baseball games, coached my little league team (although was hard on me in a way I still think was mean), but if I pissed him off he wasn’t shy to smack me around. He had an incredibly stressful blue collar job then and he got a lot better after getting out.
I resented him for a bit but by the time I hit my 20s the relationship shifted and it’s great now. |

She still bitches about every annoying/assholeish thing my grandma does with no perspective of how much worse she could be. Plus my dad, despite being in his 70s, is still bitter and resentful that she has always favored my aunts over him and is always buying shit for my loser uncle but will never pick up one of their dinner checks.
I always defend her and think it's 180 that every year she keeps on truckin is one less year those boomers have to piss away her $ once she finally goes. |
