Why has the Olympics gotten so much less popular?

It was a huge cultural event in America. 1994 was such a big deal that Tonya Harding was willing to have Nancy Kerrigan taken out so she could get in. But something changed. Today, America barely pays attention to it. I was in line recently at an AT&T store and figure skating was on the TV. Now you can stream whatever you want at any time so the whole thing seems less special. also, we don't really have a culture of everyone watching the same prime time tv events anymore. even as recently as the 90s, the world series would rival super bowl tv ratings. not anymore.
