People are really struggling.
I forgot to tip the lady who cut my dogs hair. She was FURIOUS about it too. She slammed the little half-door they use to keep dogs separated and she walked off and didnt even acknowledge my thanks.
As I was in the parking lot, I realized that I hadn't tipped and that was why she was so mad. Service people need their tips this time of year.

you're the one with poor rc, retard.
i said prices on a few things, such as cars and electronics, have have had prices recovered and are now around* what they they would have been in 2024 under normal/high inflation. but that shit like food, which we should expect to recover, has remained high and the rapid inflation seems to be permanent and not transitory due to COVID supply chain issues.
*i wouldn't be surprised if cars and such were still higher than normal. the point of my comment was that it's shocking so many things have remained high while others have recovered somewhat. you're autistically latching onto me saying "normal", but all i was saying is "some prices have come down but it's insane that essentials like food have remained high."
retard. stay pumo.

examples? i'm talking about rapid + permanent. prices fluctuate all the time. inflation adjusted food price rapidly fell up until the 50s and have remained mostly consistent until recently.

we've only been doing macroeconomics in a reliable way for the past 100ish years. before that prices shifted mostly because of wars, shortages, new discoveries, etc.
the great depression, stagflation, 80s, ITE, etc. saw prices and wages see a return to normal fairly quickly. inflated prices today seem very sticky. it's not normal for prices to inflate so much and then stay there without an equilibrium in increase wage.

we used to have much stronger price controls on food until the last 30-40 years
what are you talking about "examples"? you're just basically saying "the vibes are like off this time, man". inflation in the 70s and 80s was statistically massively worse than it currently is and for an incredibly long period of time.

but in the 70s and 80s we could identify the cause and addressed it via volcker interest rates.
i am coming at this from with the assumption that inflated prices, not mitigated by increases in wages, is here to stay for the foreseeable future, and that the cost of essential spending as a percentage of income will remain high.
https://www.ers.usda.gov/data-products/chart-gallery/gallery/chart-detail/?chartId=76967
https://www.longtermtrends.net/home-price-median-annual-income-ratio/
so, i guess we don't know what will happen in the future. but it doesn't seem like much is being done to address it. and i don't see what could will happen to bring spending on essentials as a % of income down over the next few years.
otoh things looked pretty bad after ITE too. you're right, i am essentially saying "the vibes are different this time, man." but that "feeling" is based on what i perceive as the causes and lack of action in addressing them.

I got the $5 biggie bag from Wendy's the other day and there was a giant bone shard in my "chicken" sandwich
the day before, I'd read that Trader Joe's was litigating against their longstanding supplier for selling them literal "shit in a box" -- chicken patties full of giant bones
we can't have nice things anymore
what am I supposed to eat? a $15 estrogen burrito from chipotle?
