To be fair,
Look, bud, only real idiots buy when the market is going down. Plus this time is obviously fundamentally different from every other previous time that the market went down and then subsequently recovered and soared up to hit new ATHs -- that clearly won't happen this time around. Also, the developments of the last month have FUNDMAMENTALLY changed the future outlook for Big Tech / AI... it's now clear that there's no real future there, for reasons that are so clear I won't even bother elaborating on them, so even if the broader market did eventually recover (it won't) it's indisputable that the Mag 7 stonks you're foolishly buying are individually doomed. MSFT and AMZN and TSLA and NVDA are just permafukt.
Trust me, I know these things. Sell while you still can even if you have to lock in big losses. It's the only way to survive at this point.

AMZN is driven by people shopping at home and not wanting to leave the house or doing anything so they can spend more time on screens (check)
META is driven by boomers shouting about the Iran war in Facebook groups and then seeing an ad for a new grill from AMZN and clicking buy. (check)
You basically can't lose

Most of AMZN's profit comes from Amazon Web Services. I think AI will surprise to the upside and growth from this kind of utility/infrastructure will do well.
On the retail business, I'm not sure. AI/LLM may destroy the trust advantage of incumbents, by allowing the customer to compare prices across various platforms instantly. But at the same time, the predictability that Amazon has built with logistics and shipping - I respect it. And for whatever reason, now it trades at ~25x pe forward 12 months, while largely trading in the 30x pe over the past few years due to growth expectations. You're right that it's saturating the market, but I don't see any reason to be against them yet.

META. The flagship ads business is still a money printing machine. Even though Zuck spent a ton of money on VR/AR that hasn't panned out yet, he does seem to care about making stock go up, for some reason. Just fired a bunch of people. The network effect from boomers talking to each other on here, and people looking at their cousin's kids or whatever, isn't going anywhere. Stuff like Marketplace killed craigslist and still has room to grow. There's all sorts of stuff they could just add as a new function, given they already have the userbase. I'm surprised their dating function hasn't done better. Trading at 17.5x forward 12 month pe.

Zero sarcasm.
I don't think we're dumb at all. We haven't hit the bottom yet. Today was an interesting day in terms of stocks showing signs of resilience and investor confidence. But I don't think the rally is on yet.
Still, I think there is some sort of floor for equities whereby a certain amount of investor confidence is forever priced in. In other words, enough smart money knows the drill. No one thinks the war will go on forever. Everyone knows equities are woefully undervalued. Everyone knows that it won't take *that* long to recover.
So at every leg down I'm getting FOMO about not buying enough. Gun to the head we have not hit the bottom but I'm just guessing. And the bottom might not be all that far off now. Equities are EXTREMELY cheap right now. Never bet against America. When the rally is on for real, you're going to wish you put every single dime you had into this.
In summation whatever you do, don't regret buying at any stage now. Even if it ticks up over a week or two. The gains are going to be extraordinary.
