Not to change the subject from burritos but when I was earning poverty wages in my 20s I used to go to Subway nearly every day and get a footlong Italian sub for 5 dollars. It was generally the only big meal I would eat in a day.
If I was hungry later at night, I could always swing by McDonald’s and grab a chicken sandwich for a dollar.
All of these people are screaming about “eating at home” but I basically never made meals at home in those days and I was able to get by. You used to be able to survive on low wages without making meals from scratch. If that’s not possible anymore then it’s a sign that our standard of living is declining. That’s a problem. You should care about that.
Anyway, I went to a Subway recently and that same sandwich was 13 dollars. McDonald’s, of course, doesn’t sell anything for a dollar anymore.

The food was trucked to McDonald’s by Gen X truckers making like $9.80/hr and made by Gen X employees making $7.25.
Gen X’s low wages caused ITE1 bc they couldn’t afford Mortgages. It was considered Normal to make like $28,500 in 2007.
We overcorrected and now Losers make $100k. Other Losers who are really, really bad at job interviews had to stay Trapped making 2007 wages at Confused zombie companies . These are the people complaining on Reddit

Prices are all over the map now.
A QB meal at McDonalds is like $12 now, but you can get a double cheeseburger, nuggest and a drink for $6. When I order what I want from Taco Bell/Arbys, it's like $15. But both offer "boxes" with more food than what I order for $7 (Arbys even gives you mozzerella sticks and a dessert).
If you get a drink and chips at the Chipotle/Qdoba/Moes type restaurants, it often times is $19. But if you go on Tuesdays at a lot of places, you can get them for $7.
It's sort of interesting there must've been a study on this. The way they're separating out price sensitive people is just by saying "You can get this specific enormous amount of food for $7 - but if you want to order what you want it's going to cost you double.

It's not effective for me because it just ends up pissing me off. Like Arby's took the roast beef sandwich off the $7 box.
So I can either get a chicken sandwich (which I don't really want), or pay $14 for a roast beef sandwich and fries and still not get the 2 mozzerella sticks which i really like, OR pay $19 and get the mozzerella sticks and be sick because i ate an entire order of mozz sticks fries and a sandwich.
I just don't go to these places now because there's no winning.

how expensive is it to make your own burrito? pretty sure it doesn't cost $20.
this article suggests it's 63 cents.

it's always healthcare. always, because nothing is ever done to fix the problem and everyone gives in to the socialism
housing. you do not need to plant yourself anywhere. you can commute. there are always cheap shitty places to live near anywhere. you move out when you can afford to.
cars. the cars from the 00s are very good. no one needs an expensive car.
education. if you borrow money to go to college, expect to pay it back. you can if you don't fuck it up. i know many fuck it up, but that is on them. otherwise, not going to college is always an option.
