Great questions. Very close. The Big Unit is an all timer and had the advantage of being more different than other pitchers, so facing him is more unusual for batters.
Nonetheless, I'm going with the professor. Better in just about every stat, from ERA to HR/9. More playoff innings pitched. More ways to get it done. I'm more confident he'd find a way.
Interestingly, both have losing playoff records.

Johnson. It’s not like Maddux has a history of really winning huge World Series games. He blew game 6 to the Yankees in 1996.
Randy Johnson when the crowd is pumping would be my pick. See 2001.

maddux. johnson only had the one world series if I remember. maddux was consistently the best and played in bigger games.
I'm also admittedly a biased braves fan.
