A recent Princeton study analyzed over 20 years of voting and polling data to ask that very question: Does the U.S. government actually represent the people?
What they found was that the number of Americans expressing a desire for or against any particular law had such a minuscule impact on the outcome that it couldn’t be statistically differentiated from zero.
They wrote that American voters have “a minuscule, near zero, statistically insignificant impact on public policy.” |
