Corporations have the old "lease or buy?" issue and over a few decades have decided that in-house employee lawyers can do a huge chunk of what was once farmed out to law firms.

The rising quality of legal AI has to severely alter the current balance, it seems. You might still need the guidance of wise old heads at law firms but you can do so much in-house and have it simply reviewed.
