We will never see that sort of insane advancement in Gaming (and the literally tens of thousands of amazing Gaming memories we all had during that time) ever again in that short amount of time.

And yes there were apparently still NES' being sold in stores in 1991 per reddit. Little known fact - The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was officially discontinued in North America and Europe on August 14, 1995, according to Wikipedia.
