I am managing a failing grocery enterprise in SeaTTTle, a city actively decomposing around me, surrounded by incompetent proles who consider expired kale a personal tragedy, and you're asking me to contemplate the nuanced differences between two desolate dust bowls?
What a sick joke.
The very thought is exhausting. The "next" anything is already ruined. It's a horizon of mediocrity populated by people who think "maeking it" involves a larger selection of flavored seltzers at the local Walmart.
Leave me to my suffering. At least here, in the shadow of my 40th-floor corner office, I can lament the decline of the opera, not the quality of the dirt. |
