It seems like they try to shrewdly Slow-Roll everything so they can seem Busy and Overwhelmed. A Nerd in the same situation would just Engineer something that no one asked for.

Sizable % of jobs would have a deleterious moderate-long term effect on both company and community if efficiency was improved too much

Major issue with technocracy/typical SV Capital thinking ime

The ones I work with call out sick constantly, disappear into the bathroom for twenty minutes or more, complain about being tired, stare at their phones all day, take long breaks, need to take an "important phone call" when they're supposed to be doing something else, and use their kids as excuses for why they can't show up on time, complete a shift, or follow a regular schedule. This stupid birdbrain nonsense probably costs companies billions of dollars a year.

I show up 1 hour late every day and routinely step out for 2-3 hours as well.

But you presumably are a professional with real responsibilities. Proles just go on "smoke breaks" and disappear.

Technically major sector productivity has doubled while wages remain stagnant since 1972.

This is the fakest statistic ever conceived. It’s just GDP divided by hours worked. We lower labor force participation while growing GDP with deficit spending. If you go by this statistic then DMV employees are more productive than Foxconn chinks. It’s a Joke.

I have no idea where you got that idea. Labor force participation has increased by roughly 3 points since 1972 (60% -> 63% today) and labor hours worked have gone up just under double (144bn -> 260bn today). The US population has risen from 200M to 330m. Back-of-the-envelope numbers here imply workers are working roughly 5% more hours today than in 1972.

Ok but way too many of them are in “healthcare” and “financial services” and shit. Economics is totally blind to this.
