Yeah he was telling me about it. He says it's tough you only get narrow approval. He was trying to get blanket coverage to search for this guy's cell phone pinging off the tower and the judge was like fuk u, you get an hour. He was telling me how he narrowed down the time frame and shit and at this point he lost me it was some straight Jigsaw John shit he was talkin about ring cameras and geolocation and shit it sounded super complicated.
Anyway he got the search warrant for that hour and he got the suspect's phone pinging. It was an armed robbery of some guy selling Jordan's on Instagram. It was an inside job somebody knew the guy and where he'd be and shit. Buddy sold him out and these guys busted down the door and stole all his sneakers. The suspects almost got away but this dude got picked up on a weed charge a few weeks later and the whole case unraveled.
My buddy said husband favorite part of the job is confronting them with the evidence in the interrogation room. He told the guy we got so much evidence on you we don't even need the confession. The guy said "Go fuck yourself" and my buddy said "No thanks" and walked away. He said he was grinning ear to ear for the rest of the day.

Counterpoint trials are traumatic and appeals cost the state shitloads of money.
You really want the family to have to sit through the prosecutor explaining that their daughters guts were hanging from the ceiling fan (a rumored fact of the case)?
And then for 20 years some extremely well funded morbidly obese Jewess lawyers show up argue against death because it's MORALLY WRONG FOR THE STATE TO KILL while draining local resources?
This plea is a no brainer.

They got the guy, he's never going to have the opportunity to do this again, now they can spend the money they would have spent on a high profile trial and inevitable death penalty appellate litigation on prosecuting other cases
leaving aside the morality of the death penalty this is clearly a good result

the sufficiency of evidence has bearing on whether he's found guilty in the first place. no clue how you could infer that i think executions are scheduled based on how guilty someone is.
their guts were hanging from the ceiling fan. its deeply wrong to do an economic calculation in an era of such incredible waste and conclude that this is the smart penny pinching to do.
this plea is pure cowardice.

that was in response to "this is the best result that could reasonably be expected."
which suggests that there are lesser outcomes that could happen like a NG which would never in a million years happen.
this isnt the "best outcome" that could reasonably be expected. thats the DP.

it doesn't matter if its 15 years or 40 years. i really dont care. i was guessing it woiuld be 15, if its 40 then so be it.
the state must take a moral stand against these types of crimes. that the process has been corrupted by shitlibs is not a reason to throw in the towel.
do you agree that the state should be putting people to death for some murders, or are you opposed to the death penalty?

we don't know his motive. he apparently has autism and a history of behavioral issues. tons to work with on appeal.
there aren't a lot of aggrevating circumstances here and a death penalty sentence isn't even a slam dunk. the guy has no criminal history. there is certainly a lot to work with on appeal. a random murderer with no history isn't usually the type of person that gets the dp let alone fast tracked.
this is just dead cute white girl syndrome.

lots of margarine for a dairy state.
tons of peanut butter. tons of pork. they serve fish, but never on a friday.
seems like a good menu, but designed by a troll.

didn't read many posts above
this is why the death penalty is important
the people who believe it is not a deterrent are wrong
but even if they are right
which they aren't
look at what it accomplished here. it removed any hope of kohberger lucking out because he was afraid of it. without the death penalty, this is a guaranteed trial
anyone who has had more than a couple jury trials, or has any common sense or erudition, understands that juries can act in really fucking irrational ways

Thread summary: The death penalty is there to keep you from using our broken appeals system and wasting everyone's time and money.
Do I have that right?
