Also is this a prestigious country club? Seems like a punishing course

yes and yes it’s prestigious. not like augusta or cypress point level exclusive but for a real golfer’s club it’s up there.

the membership is known for wanting the course to play tough, both for tournament and everyday play

ty. i’ll watch in the morning probably.

i watched way too much of the coverage this week and now i’m pretty sure this is the best championship course there is and it’s not close. the greens were always great but after they restored them they’re genius

a Scottish colleague, scratch golfer and accomplished amateur competitor, says that Oakmont and Carnoustie stand alone.

lol he a big ben hogan fan by chance?

i’ve played carnoustie and a bunch of the other top links courses. it’s very good but doesn’t stand above the others imo

if you’re a serious golfmo who knows some of the right people then probably eventually.

it’s not all blue bloods but also not the type of place you can just buy your way in

Randomly picked up a tee from Oakmont in suburban Los Angeles yesterday. It was a 180 coincidence, used it for irons the rest of the way.

yes, which actually makes it moar prestigious since it means they had a prime location developed well before the interstate system and they had to cut through
