Date: July 14th, 2025 6:08 AM Author: appetizing den I've never read any of his fiction works but supposedly he was a very skilled writer with much technical talent. I mostly know of a few his non-fiction/theory writings from era theory compendiums. Wrote several books in the vein of Zola's "La Terre"/the Rougon-Macquart chronicles ; pioneered "Socialist Realism" as a sort of eastern counterpart to something like Art Deco or the Axis Powers' own "heroic realism". All twists on the same seed imo Some to much of all three of these is derided as kitsch/prole/"folkish" these days but that doesn't really seem to be a fair treatment either |
