That actually made it more legendary imo
For me college fb was good because it was an entirely separate game from the pros. There was such a thing as a star player whose specific talents made them generationally elite in college but not end up being anything in the NFL. It made it more unique and special and the games played a lot differently than the NFL too
Now it's literally just a corporatized minor league for the NFL and it's gay as hell. Players and coaches switching teams every year and skipping bowl games. There have even been coaches that have come from the NFL to coach college teams to capitalize on the easy corporate money and clout lmao shit is a joke
