The era, not the “virus”
Our world is so incredibly different than it was before.
A real trajectory changer for everyone and no one seems to notice much

wfh and/or leaving the office whenever you want. This is the biggest change for me. I just straight up leave when I am ready to leave. years ago I would have been chased down the streets by cops
menus on scan
things costing more.
I think that is it really

connect the wfh dude above with people being glued to screens
its the same shit. And while screening was a significant part of life before covid, covid didnt just kick the door down, it bulldozed the entire structure.
Before covid, internet screens were more like TV. Some people watched 8 hours a day, some avoided religiously. There was some moral shame, some medical instructions against, "bad for kids", etc.
Covid not only erased all of that, it turned 180* and sped 100 miles the other direction. People were ORDERED to live on screens. Kids were planted in front of screens under threat of parental arrest for truancy if the kid was off the screen.
Young people's relationship with "work", or how we spent the vast majority of are lives between 25 and 70, became inextricably tied to "how much of this can I do all alone with my screen".
Bars, events, thing-doing, mating, dating, etc etc, all went through the COVID filter to come out completely different.
I can see an argument that all of this was in the works, but its like "that old house will burn down some day" vs. "we are dousing it in accelerant and everyone must drop a match"

It also completely destroyed normie trust in the government, institutions, Science, experts, law, etc
Imo this was the bigger development than the social consequences you mentioned. "Covid" pretty much totally nuked society's trust in the broad "elite" for absolutely everyone other than a certain segment of urbanite shitlib white boomers
In a sick way, it was actually A Good Thing because of this. The kids under ~24 who went through covid are overwhelmingly "conservative" now compared to the zoomers who are 24-30 solely because of what happened during covid. In the long run I think that the fiasco may have saved the world
