1. I'm not confused about this at all and you didn't educate me on anything. I probably have spent significantly more time in Mexico than you have.
2. I didn't say a single thing about Mexico City, I noted that you seem unaware that your example of a shitty, dangerous place is actually the safest in the entire country.
3. Mexico City isn't a state, but it is in Edomex (Estado de Mexico) or the "State of Mexico". Edomex is significantly more dangerous than Yucatan and while I think CDMX is one of the best large cities in the world, from a crime perspective Merida is much safer.

You seemed to imply that with "Security is off the chain, not like the shitholds you visit in the Yucatttan."
If you actually visited Merida (the largest city in the state) you would see tons of Guardia Nacional all over the place in addition to regular police.
No one is going to the Yucatan for beach holidays except locals. The beaches you're thinking about are in Quintana Roo, which also has much more crime. In fact, you probably got these two states entirely mixed up.
