my view is that angleton likely reached out to his mossad buddies to get it done (not necessarily, but likely). I also don't think he was the most anti-kennedy person at the CIA but he was the most essential person for something audacious because he had the most off-the-books assets: someone else convinced him, he agreed and went to mossad.

what morley's probably against is the view that angleton was just israel's man on the inside, they hatched it and he facilitated it and covered it up (as with their theft of nuclear material). I think this is not impossible but really a lot less plausible than the other view. the CIA and kennedy were growing bitterly adversarial at that point and another term would've shackled or completely neutered them, they wanted someone who'd respect the role they envisioned for themselves and know when to defer.

what's much more sinister is the Liberty incident and we're just scratching the surface of that, idk the quality of my info but many people are saying it looks like johnson may have been in on it from the beginning (not just the coverup) and if he was, angleton probably was too.
