Date: June 3rd, 2025 10:25 PM Author: opaque azn I agree 100%. It got swiftboated. Also for some reason PS1 just caught a second wind around that time and was popular af. People would rather play Resident Evil 3 and Parasite Eve than actual next-gen games. N64 was almost completely dead by 9/9/99.
People also underestimate how many Gamers gave up on N64 and said fuck it and got PS1s. Another Console at that point was a bridge too far. If people bought a PS1 in '95, no N64, and then Dreamcast came in '99, more would've gotten the Dreamcast. But ps1 sold more than the previous year like every year it existed until 2000.
By the way, it's never been about the games. Never has been, and never will be. |

My mom just went to target mid-morning and grabbed it for me. Drove home a few hours from university that afternoon and went buckwild with it. Made sure to rent FF8 and burn it that weekend before I went back. Epic times.
I think the next game I got may have been NBA 2k and then when I saw how insane it was I went back and picked up NFL 2K.
I still have my dreamcast and all games. About 50 or so, including an Ikaruga import.
