The 60/40 tax rule you mentioned applies specifically to Section 1256 contracts under U.S. tax law, which include regulated futures contracts, certain foreign currency contracts, and broad-based index options like SPX (S&P 500 Index options). However, it does not automatically apply to all index ETFs (exchange-traded funds) such as QQQ, SPY, SOXL, or TQQQ.

the fact is with tax shit u only have 15k exempt and then any long term cap gains or qualified dividends up to like if ur income is under 50k is 0%
so there's not that much room for error, this year i think im already above 50k, just selling my SOXL and TQQQ was like 45k profit and i had no choice but to sell that shit
its only 15% for up to 500k somethign in ST cap gains though, i dont want to pay anything though i need to start a business and deduct some shit nigga, was gonna do that legit anyway |
